SCHADS civil penalty maxima revised

in force since 1 July 2026

The Commonwealth penalty unit rose to $364 on 1 July 2026, for conduct from that date. The standard maximum civil penalty per contravention is now $109,200; for underpayment-related contraventions, a provider with 15 or more staff faces up to $546,000 per contravention, or three times the underpayment if greater. Standard maxima, not serious-contravention figures.

Computed at the $364 penalty unit (Crimes Act 1914 s 4AA indexation, 1 July 2026): 300 units standard body-corporate maximum; 1,500 units for underpayment contraventions by employers of 15 or more (Closing Loopholes). Conduct before 1 July 2026 carries the $330 unit.
