Example design · fictional service enquiry

Give delivery a brief it can accept.

Missing costs and unclear commitments can turn a promising enquiry into a difficult project. Inspect the estimate, available team time and proposed terms before the delivery lead accepts the work.

Enquiry, scope and a signed delivery briefAn enquiry passes through scope, fee and terms checks to a signed delivery brief. The delivery lead accepts the brief or returns it for clarification. Example design using fictional work records.Enquiry → mobilised engagement
WHAT GOES IN

An enquiry, a discovery record, team availability and cost assumptions.

WHAT COMES OUT

A costed proposal and a delivery brief ready for the responsible owners to review.

WHO DECIDES

The named reviewer approves, returns or stops each step.

01 / TAKE THE REVIEWER’S SEAT

Change the input.
Check what changes.

Change the analyst hours. See the full cost, find an omitted review rate and check whether the team has enough time for the proposed work. Choose the situation, set the input and select “Run this case”. You make each fictional review decision; nothing is sent or applied outside the demo.

THE BRIEF

Can the team accept a diagnostic engagement?

A fictional boutique receives an enquiry for an operations diagnostic. Change the analyst effort, then inspect fit, role capacity, a transparent estimate, the agreement comparison and the brief offered to delivery.

An estimate includes review and partner effort. A proposal is still subject to finance, signature and delivery acceptance; unavailable capacity can justify a return or no-bid.

Source excerpts and the complete design remain readable below.

02 / OPEN THE SOURCE PACK

Read the records behind the result.

Use these fictional originals to check the number, period, version and permission behind each output. Missing or conflicting evidence remains visible. These are teaching records, not client results.

ENQ-BRIEF1

Fictional diagnostic enquiry

Synthetic source. Simulation case E-01 requests a process map, findings pack and handover conversation for an operations diagnostic. The enquirer permits this case to be considered privately. The fixture records no conflict flag; a partner must still decide fit. Analyst effort H is a whole number from 16 to 80, default 32 hours.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.

ENQ-DISCOVERY1

Discovery and role reservation

Synthetic source. The agreed estimate includes H analyst hours, 8 quality-review hours and 4 partner hours; total active effort = H + 12. The proposed delivery window has 60 analyst hours, 8 quality-review hours and 4 partner hours available. Analyst gap = max(0, H − 60). If the gap is positive, delivery returns the timing/scope decision to the partner.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.

ENQ-COST1

Complete fictional cost worksheet

Synthetic source. Internal hourly costs for this invented advisory engagement are analyst USD 90, quality reviewer USD 140 and partner USD 200. Analyst cost = 90H; review cost = 8 × 140 = 1,120; partner cost = 4 × 200 = 800. Total cost = 90H + 1,920. These figures are not Build n Bloom fees.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.

ENQ-COST-GAP0

Incomplete cost worksheet — exception

Synthetic source. Analyst cost is USD 90/hour and partner cost is USD 200/hour. Eight quality-review hours are required, but their cost rate is missing. Known subtotal = 90H + 800. The missing cost is unknown, not zero. A full cost, margin or proposed fee is unavailable.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.

ENQ-COST-REPAIR2

Finance-supplied review cost — repair evidence

Synthetic source. For fictional case E-01 only, the missing quality-review rate is supplied as USD 140/hour for 8 hours. Complete cost becomes 90H + 1,120 + 800. This correction supplies cost evidence, not a fee approval, delivery commitment or signature.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.

ENQ-METHOD1

Illustrative estimate method

Synthetic source. For this invented diagnostic only, compute a candidate fee = complete internal cost / 0.60, rounded to USD cents. Contribution = candidate fee − complete cost; margin = 100 × contribution / candidate fee = 40% before unmodelled overhead, tax and risk. Do not apply the method to an incomplete cost. This is a fictional firm's estimate, not a Build n Bloom quote or rate card.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.

ENQ-TERMS1

Agreement and handoff specimen

Synthetic source. The unsigned specimen for E-01 repeats the three requested outputs, H analyst hours, 8 review hours, 4 partner hours and the calculated candidate fee. It is regenerated for the selected H. Signatory review and delivery acceptance are pending. The delivery window cannot be committed when H exceeds 60; a changed date, scope or no-bid needs the partner's decision.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.

ENQ-RECOVERY1

Delivery-workspace interruption fixture

Synthetic source. At Delivery accepts, the fictional workspace read stops. Retain the selected estimate, unsigned terms and role reservation. A technical check may compare versions and list the pending delivery decision. The interruption cannot supply missing signature, capacity, professional cover or authority to begin work.

Use boundary: Synthetic fixture; private review within this fictional case only.
