Fictional assessment finding · prepared excerpt
A finding and its evidence, ready to inspect
If your firm assesses work against criteria, this is the shape that matters: one finding, the exact source behind each claim, what remains unverified and the decision left open for the qualified reviewer.
What you are looking at
Calder & Frei Advisory, Northgate Fabrication and every record are fictional. The finding describes supplied documentation only; a missing record does not prove an event did not happen. No approval is pre-filled.
- Read the claim table before the finding
- Note how the interview account conflicts with the register and is kept visible
- See what the reviewer is asked to decide, and what evidence is requested first
How to use it
Hold it against one criterion-based engagement you deliver. The useful comparison is how your team keeps claim, source and gap together on the way to review.
A finding and its evidence, ready to inspect
Prepared local excerpt · Assessment Review Kit · 5 October 2026. Calder & Frei Advisory, Northgate Fabrication and all case records are fictional. This example illustrates preparation for a qualified reviewer; it has no professional approval, installed workflow or measured client outcome. It is not an analysis of your firm or its method.
The assessment question
Do six sampled July 2026 shift handovers carry recorded sign-off, and does the control have a named accountable owner? These are the fictional firm’s criteria, not a universal assessment method.
The completed finding for review
Four of six sampled handovers have a recorded sign-off. The other two sign-offs are asserted in interview but remain unverified. No accountable owner is identified in the supplied materials.
This finding describes the supplied documentation. A missing record does not establish that a handover did not happen; the register’s completeness has not been independently verified.
| Material claim | Source | What remains open |
|---|---|---|
| Four sign-offs are recorded | S3: July register, H-01 to H-04; exported 15 August 2026 | Whether this is an adequate source for the criterion |
| All six handovers were signed | S2: supervisor interview, 14 August 2026 | Interview account conflicts with the supplied documentary record; no supporting records reviewed in interview |
| H-05 and H-06 were signed | Asserted in S2; no supporting record supplied | Obtain records or confirmation they are unavailable; do not infer the event never occurred |
| An accountable owner is identified | No owner identified in S1 questionnaire or S3 register | Ask for written identification; the owner may exist without being named in these sources |
S1 is the 12 August 2026 questionnaire. It says notes are in a shared operations folder and supervisors coordinate between them; no accountable owner is supplied.
The brief a reviewer receives
Decision requested: Under the firm’s method, approve a limited finding with gaps disclosed, revise the finding, or hold pending evidence.
Evidence to resolve: Request sign-off records for H-05 (22 July) and H-06 (29 July), or written confirmation that they are unavailable. Request written identification of the accountable owner.
Human decision: The qualified reviewer records the exact finding version, decision, rationale and remaining limitations before issue. This decision is open in the example; no approval is pre-filled.
Next handoff: An engagement contact requests the precise missing material through the firm’s normal process. An unavailable-record response closes the request but leaves the sign-offs unverified. Report approval does not automatically resolve an evidence gap.
The work this lets you compare
The useful object is the finding, its exact basis, unresolved evidence and the reviewer’s decision together. Your own criteria, evidence rights and professional review remain essential. This does not measure how much effort an AI step would save; a comparison would count preparation, checking, correction and operation through accepted work.
